The protagonist Iyob (Mammootty) is a lovable character who does not realise his true vocation in life and wastes all his time playing football with his friends or helping others out in their daily chores. His late father was the village blacksmith who has passed on this legacy to him, but Iyob fails to understand that metalwork is also an art. The film is the story of how Iyob discovers his real talent and what he eventually becomes. The first part of the film is about Iyob's childhood, his first love and how he makes his first metal sculpture. The second part narrates the hurdles he faces to become a sculptor.
